For my birthday I was had the pleasure of attending a once in 5 years, all day long caucus. Unfortunately, I seem to have missed the most interesting debate answering the phone for birthday wishes.

Though on the caucus, I wonder if the timing is the best for God’s people to carry out their business. With everything jammed into a weekend; selection of nominating comittee, nominating leaders, voting on the nominations, voting on rules changes, and presenting reports from the last five years; it seems to make people feel rushed. Hence they may vote “yea” just to go home. It doesn’t really give time to debate or fully understand the issues.

Of it’s difficult to gather people together it takes 10 hours to drive through. And I imagine most of the key decisions are made at other times since if they were only made once every 5 years, our conference would be slow to react.
