Man . . .

“Do all things without murmurings and disputings, that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world, holding forth the word of life that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain.” – Phil 2.14-16

It amazes me how often a message will pertain to the very situation you find yourself in. Murmurings or complaints abound in this world. Complaint seems to be the standard for small talk, a way to connect with someone. It’s contagious and insidious. It’s a habit and a comfort that we turn to without even realizing it. And it’s a great discouragement. When all our talk is negative, we see everything around us in that light. It repels people who don’t want to be brought down.

It seems unthinkable that we don’t break these habits, and lift people up rather than drag them down. I desire to stand out in the world, shining forth with the words of life.
